Dowel to plug a Mossberg 5 shell tube magazine to only accept two shells
Lost your M500/M510/M590/M835 magazine plug? Buy a gun that didn’t come with one? Need one fast? We can help!
(also fits Maverick 88, and many other guns with 5 shell magazine tubes)This is a simple wooden dowel, the same length as 3, 3″ long shells. Useful for complying with federal migratory game bird (waterfowl) regulations that only permit a hunter’s shotgun to hold a maximum of three shells. (aka limits a 5+1 gun into a 2+1 gun)Use: For complete instructions Refer to your Mossberg Shotgun’s user manual. In summary, The barrel of an “on safe”, unloaded Mossberg 500, 510, 590, or 835, or Maverick 88, is removed and this dowel is slipped into the center of the magazine spring via the hole at the end of the magazine tube the barrel screw fits into. Then the barrel is placed back on the ‘on safe’, unloaded shotgun. How it works: It blocks up the last few inches of the magazine tube, only allowing two rounds to be placed into the magazine tube. Two O-rings are placed on the dowel in-order to reduce rattling and help prevent accidental loss when changing barrels. Not for use on shotguns with magazine tubes that have capacities other than five – 3″ shells.I can’t believe I’ve typed so much about a simple dowel with two o-rings!
