Description
For Sale: USA Made Extended 12ga Tubular Magazine Spring.
Magazine springs like this aren’t really particular to one brand or another. Typically when modifying a shotgun with an extended magazine tube a generic spring like this is purchased and cut to size.
Are you extending your 12 gauge’s magazine tube? Did your 12 gauge’s magazine spring wear out? These springs are for you!
.75 inch (3/4 inch) diameter, chrome silica, and about 4 foot long.
How they are used: Remove the end cap of the magazine tube and remove any old spring. Place the follower in the new magazine tube, then this spring, account for the length of any extensions beyond the stock magazine tube, then add another 10 to 12 inches of spring length (to give it pre-load when pushing the last round out). Cut the spring to that total length. Remember: when using magazine extensions or very long tubes, it is recommended to use a dowel plug of about 1 round length inside the spring’s coils to prevent fully compressing the magazine spring. You shouldn’t fill every inch of a magazine tube with shells! You need to leave a little space for the spring in order to keep the spring from going to full stack. This one thing (leaving some room for the spring by using a plug/dowel to keep from going to full stack) can greatly increase spring life. Also: You may need to bend the ends of the spring into a smaller taper/coil in order to help them feed into magazine caps or magazine followers. This method should give you the proper push force, balanced with longer spring life!
