Description
Muzzle Loader 209 Primer Pocket Shim Packs
They have two diameters: 241 and 248. The 241 shims tend to float in the primer pocket and can fall out. 248 shims tend to lodge or wedge into the pocket and won’t fall out (if .248 shims fall out of your rifle’s primer pocket contact the rifle’s manufacturer: it has a primer pocket made out of spec). Typically if more than one shim is needed 241 shims are used first, then the final shim is a 248 to hold them all in place.
We have varying thicknesses. .003, .005, and .030 (yes that’s 30 thousandths! It’s thick!) Make sure you select the diameter and thickness desired!
Use a soft punch to set the shims firmly bottomed into the primer pocket.
Beware! Too much crush on a primer can set it off! It doesn’t take much to get an effective seal!
