Useful to keep plugs under compression and stop rattling in D cell solvent traps. Made in USA. Typically placed closest to the muzzle of the firearm.
Of course this is an automotive part with automotive use (as a spring for engine valves) Our stainless replacement does have a slightly lower spring rate than the original VS-794 (min and maximum hold open values will be lower).

I’m only giving it a 4 instead of 5 because I didn’t have an actual need to use it. I thought I was going to need it, and I’m sure for certain builds it would be appropriate, because it does fit into D cell sized tubes well enough, but I chose to go another route using stainless tubing for a blast chamber. But for now the spring is just a paper weight lol
