Description
To get a complete easy drive system for a Savage muzzle loader you will need to purchase a “complete EZ tool set up” or put one of each individual item into your cart.
MADE IN THE USA! HEAT TREATED TO LAST! Our wrench and “EZ driver” (5/16 hex to 3/8 square adapter) are made of 4140 steel, heat treated and black oxide coated. I’ve tested these on my Savage 10ML2 rifle. They work great on the original 10ML2 slotted breech plug. They will work on the original 10ML as well.
NOTE: THE BREECH PLUG WRENCHES ARE NOT FOR THE HEX DRIVEN BREECH PLUGS. THEY ARE FOR THE SLOTTED DRIVE BREECH PLUGS
YES: WE WILL SHIP THESE TOOLS TO CANADA (for a fee per our Terms of Use)
The breech plug wrench alone will work fine with the bolt removed and a standard 3/8 square drive extension:
However, for those who want the ultimate in EZ: combining our breech plug wrench with the EZ driver, and a 8mm or 5/16 ratcheting box end wrench: one can remove or install the breech plug without removing the bolt. Simply: buy our “complete EZ tool setup.”
Assemble the breech plug wrench & EZ driver, then use an 8mm or 5/16 box end wrench to torque the wrench while keeping forward pressure on the EZ tool with the bolt. I prefer using the ratcheting style box ends we sell above. The EZ system works on rifles with scopes installed (but with a scope you really want a ratcheting box end)! See pics below.
8mm and 5/16″ are essentially the same: either will work with our EZ driver adapter!
ON AN UNLOADED DE PRIMED RIFLE:
1: Retract Bolt fully rearward
2: Place breech plug in gap between bolt face and breech (threads lubed & with vent liner oriented forward), then slide forward into breech
3: Place EZ tool/adapter into Badger Ridge Breech Plug wrench, then set both in the gap between bolt face and breech plug, slide forward to engage breech plug
4: Place 5/16 or 8mm box end wrench on hex portion of EZ tool/adapter
5: Gently apply forward pressure on EZ tool with bolt: gently turn wrench and EZ tool via box end wrench until it engages breech plug’s notches
6: Continue applying forward pressure with bolt while gently driving EZ tool/Breech Plug wrench to start breech plug into breech threads
7: Continue forward pressure/driving until Breech Plug is fully torqued into breech
8: Retract bolt & tilt rifle muzzle up to remove box end wrench, EZ tool, & breech plug wrench
