Description

Savage 10ML rifles have slotted drive breech plugs.  Savage 10ML2 rifles came with slotted drive and hex drive breech plugs.   For the Savage 10’s with slotted drive breech plugs: to get a complete easy drive (EZ) system for a Savage muzzle loader (with slotted drive breech plug) you will need to purchase a “complete EZ tool set up” or put one of each individual item into your cart.

Assemble the breech plug wrench & EZ driver, then use an 8mm or 5/16 box end wrench to torque the wrench while keeping forward pressure on the EZ tool with the bolt.  I prefer using the ratcheting style box ends we sell here.  The EZ system works on rifles with scopes installed (but with a scope you really want a ratcheting box end)!     8mm and 5/16″ wrenches are essentially the same: either will work with our EZ driver adapter!

The bolt is used to keep forward pressure on the EZ tool and breech plug wrench while driving the breech plug with the ratcheting 8mm-5/16 box end. (breech plug is part of the rifle and not included with this tool)  See pics below.

The Breech Plug wrench sold here is for the slotted drive breech plugs.   If you have a hex head drive breech plug, we recommend you buy the ratcheting box-end and the 5/16 to 3/8 adapater and pair them with any standard 3/8 automotive 12point socket.   Again:   If you have a hex head drive breech plug, just buy the 5/16 hex to 3/8 square adapter & the ratcheting box end wrench, then pair them with a standard automotive 3/8 socket.

BLUED STEEL ITEMS ARE MADE IN THE USA & HEAT TREATED TO LAST!  Our wrench and “EZ driver” (5/16 hex to 3/8 square adapter) are made of 4140 steel, heat treated and black oxide coated.  I’ve tested these on my Savage 10ML2 rifle.  They work great on the original 10ML2 slotted breech plug.   They will work on the original 10ML as well.  The ratcheting box end wrench is foreign sourced.

NOTE: THE BREECH PLUG WRENCHES ARE NOT FOR THE HEX DRIVEN BREECH PLUGS.  THEY ARE FOR THE SLOTTED DRIVE BREECH PLUGS

YES: WE WILL SHIP THESE TOOLS TO CANADA (for a fee per our Terms of Use)

ALSO: The breech plug wrench alone will work fine with the bolt removed and a standard 3/8 square drive extension  (useful when removing stuck breech plugs):

Use a standard 3/8 drive socket wrench with extension and the Badger Ridge BP wrench to remove and install a original Savage 10ML2 Breech Plug. (Rifle and breech plug are show to illustrate the tool in use and are not for sale)

For those who want the ultimate in EZ:  combining our breech plug wrench with the EZ driver, and a 8mm or 5/16 ratcheting box end wrench: one can remove or install the breech plug without removing the bolt.    Simply: buy our “complete EZ tool setup.”

If your breech plug is hex drive, just buy the Racheting Box End wrench and the 5/16 to 3/8 adaptor then couple them with any standard 3/8 12 point automotive socket.
