Description
This cam pin is frequently used in Remington VersaMax shotguns to replace the softer Remington version.
If you are troubleshooting a VersaMax, Instead of just replacing the cam pin, we suggest that you purchase our “Remelli” Parts Kit. The Remelli kit also has parts that improve the VersaMax’s troublesome hammer assembly (a replacement hammer, hammer spring, & hammer plunger). But if you (or a reputable gunsmith) tore your trigger pack down and are 100% sure you don’t need those parts too, we offer just this Cam Pin.
This M4 cam pin (also called a ‘locking pin head’ will also work in multiple Benelli models & other clones (like the Stoeger M3000/M3500). This pin has a line mark in the head to help align it so that the firing pin can pass through. Remember to flip the orientation of the mark each time you clean, so that the cam pin wears more evenly.
More details about why these parts are needed and how our trigger pack upgrade service works
The Remington VersaMax is at it’s heart, a USA made clone of the Benelli M4, with a wing-shooting stock, an improved gas system, and other changes. Some (but not all) of the VersaMax’s parts are interchangeable with multiple Benelli parts. Unfortunately some of the key Remington original parts don’t seem to last and can cause malfunctions. Typically the first sort of malfunction to pop-up is a Failure to Fire (light primer strikes).
There are other Benelli clones (like the Stoeger 3000 & 3500) that these parts will also fit. Way to many to list here. Basically these parts fit Benelli M2’s, M4’s, most of the Super Black Eagle (SBE) models as well. Benelli reused these parts in too many of their autoloaders to list here.
The Benelli parts we sell are direct, higher quality replacements for the 4 pieces that (individually or together) fail first to cause light primer strikes (aka Failure to Fire) in the VersaMax (and many other clones). Whether a VersaMax has all 4 bad at the moment or not, once failures to fire occur, it is recommended to upgrade all 4 to Benelli parts while you are in there inspecting and cleaning. It is the best way to ensure reliability (i.e. if you think your hammer is ok, just replace it now, before it isn’t and costs you some birds). You can try just replacing these 4 & cleaning and lubing the recoil spring/action spring….or just purchase and replace the recoil/action spring as well.

I’ve personally seen two VersaMax’s with light primer strikes at the same time on the same waterfowl hunt, because they had bad hammers, springs, plungers, and cam pins. Both guns had over 500 shells through them… one was close to 1500 shells, the other about half that. The “Remelli Kit” plus a good cleaning and lubing/replacing of the action spring was the fix.
Remember a little light grease (when its hot out) or a lot of high quality oil (for hunting situations) is required on the cam pin to prevent galling & deformation (even on the higher quality Benelli pin we sell here). And on top of cleaning and lubing the trigger pack, you should remove, clean, and lightly lube the action spring very often to prevent it from gumming up in the cold.

Note: It is recommended that all firearm parts be installed by a qualified and trained gunsmith.
