Reloading Tray

Description

These trays hold 50 cases each, and are broken down into sizes to accomodate a range of case heads.  An “S” in the tray size denotes “shallow”.

Typically shorter pistol sized cartridges would drop all the way into a normal tray and be very hard to remove.   Thus, shallow “S” trays are used with shorter cartridges.   For instance a .45 ACP has essentially a 30-06 size case head, but would drop all the way into a #5 tray, and would be very hard to retrieve.  So one would want a ‘5s’ for reloading .45 ACP.

The same could said of 5.56 and 9×19: a ‘3s’ tray would be required for 9mm, or the case would drop all the way into the hole of a standard tray and be hard to retrieve.  It’s worth noting: sometimes one can get away with an S tray when loading the shorter rifle cartridges:  a ‘3s’ will work ‘ok’ with 223/5.56.   However with 308 a 5s would be bad (good chance of the 308 case tipping over and spilling powder).

Again: I use do 4s trays for 6.8 SPC,  40 S&W, and even 9×19.  However a 308 or 30-06 would tend to tip out of a ‘5s’ (not recommended to use a ‘5s’ to hold a standard rifle cartridge).

Bottom line: sometimes close is good enough.  Remember I use both 3 and 3s with 5.56/300 BLK.  The 2 gives a tight fit, but the 3 is good enough too (so I didn’t bother to make  a size 2 to sell here).   I use 4s for both 9×19,  40 S&W, & 6.8 SPC.   Or in otherwords you can typically utilize a slightly looser fit and be just fine and can sometimes get away with a shallow tray on a  shorter rifle cartridge.   Just don’t expect to use a shallow tray on the 308/7.62/243/6.5CM and larger rifle cartridges.

5:   22-250, 220 Swift, 243 Win, 6mm Rem/.244, 257 Roberts, 250 Savage, 25-06, 260 Rem, 6.5 CM, 6.5 x55, 270 Win, 7mm Br, 7mm-08, 7×57, 280 Rem, 300 Sav, 308 Win 7.62×51, 30-06, 8×57, 35 Rem,  35 Whelen  (basically for 308/30-06 case head cartidges)

5s:  .400 Cor-Bon, .45 ACP, .45 GAP, .45 Super, .460 Rowland

4:  220 Russian, 22 Valkyrie, 6mm PPC,  6mm ARC,  6.5 Grendal,  6.8 SPC, 30 Rem, 7.62×39

4s: 218 Bee, 25-20 WCF, 32-20 WCF, 38 Super, 357 Sig, 40 S&W, 10mm Auto

3:  [a little loose, but just fine on these}: 221 Rem, 222 Rem, .223 Rem (5.56 Nato), 300 BLK

3s: 380 Auto, 9mm Luger (9×19), 9mm Makarov

 

(FOR THE TIME BEING WE WON’T PRODUCCE THESE SMALLER TRAYS as a 3/3s works OK for them)

2:  .17 Rem, 221, Rem, 222, .223 Rem (5.56 Nato), 300 BLK (on the snug side for holding these)
