No need to buy a neck sizing die for each caliber. One sizing washer can save you hundreds of dollars.
Using a ‘cheater’ washer allows one to neck size just about any bottle neck cartridge with a full length die.
First, the full length die is set to properly full length size. Then when one wants to only neck size: the neck sizing washer is placed between the press and the die to raise the die the thickness of the washer. This allows the old primer to be pressed out (assuming the depriming pin is set long enough), and only the case neck to be sized consistently and repeatably. This yields consistent depriming and neck sizing without purchasing a separate neck sizing die.
The washer does not let the die engage the shoulder (or the neck close to the shoulder by the thickness of the washer). The top most part of the neck by the case mouth is re-sized to give the proper tension to hold the bullet.
You can choose between:
.095 inch thick stainless steel
.153 inch thick hardened alloy steel
The .095 will work with most any bottle neck cartridge. The thicker .153 is better with larger cartridges with longer necks.
